Privacy Policy

PhiJo ("the app", "we") respects user privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, where it's stored, and your rights.

PhiJo is a minimalist app made by an independent developer. We do not use advertising, third-party analytics, trackers, or marketing services.

1. Data We Collect

Automatically generated

• Anonymous session ID (generated by Supabase; not directly tied to your identity)
• Device language preference (Turkish / English)
• In-app theme and font preference

Information you choose to share

• Email address — optional. Used only to sign in across devices. Verified with a 6-digit code; we don't store passwords.
• Your favorite quotes and the actions you take on them
• Journal entries — notes you write on quotes, sticky note positions
• Onboarding answers — the choices you make in the philosophical-type quiz
• Usage signals — which quotes you read, favorite, or skip (used to personalize the recommendation algorithm)

What we do NOT collect

• Location data
• Camera, microphone, or photo library access
• Contacts or address book
• Advertising identifiers (IDFA, AAID)
• Cross-app or web tracking data
• Third-party analytics (we do not use Mixpanel, Google Analytics, PostHog, etc.)

2. How We Use Data

• To provide core app functionality: favorites, journal, sync
• To offer your daily "for you" quote (deterministic algorithm based on preferences that stay on the server side)
• Multi-device support (if you've signed in with email)
• Account security and abuse prevention

We never use your data for marketing, advertising, or sale to third parties.

3. Data Storage and Location

All user data is stored on Supabase Inc. infrastructure, located in the European Union (Frankfurt, Germany). Your data is subject to GDPR (Europe) and KVKK (Turkey) regulations.

Supabase acts as a data processor on our behalf. Their privacy policy: supabase.com/privacy.

4. Third Parties

PhiJo uses the following infrastructure services:

• Supabase — database, authentication, storage (data processor)
• Apple App Store / Google Play — app distribution (the stores you download the app from)

Other than these services, no other third parties receive your data.

5. Your Rights (KVKK + GDPR)

You have the following rights regarding your data:

• The right to access your personal data
• The right to request correction
• The right to request deletion (right to be forgotten)
• The right to object to processing
• The right to data portability (export)

6. Account Deletion

You can delete your account from within the app: Settings → Account → Delete Account. Deletion is irreversible; your journal entries, favorites, preferences, and all account data are permanently erased.

Alternatively, email phijo.app@gmail.com with the subject "Account deletion request".

7. Children

PhiJo is not designed for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child's data has been processed, please contact us; the relevant data will be deleted immediately.

8. Cookies and Tracking

PhiJo is a mobile app and does not use cookies. This website (privacy / support pages) also contains no analytics, cookies, or trackers.

9. Security

Data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored encrypted on Supabase infrastructure. Row-Level Security (RLS) policies ensure each user can only access their own data.

10. Policy Changes

This policy may be updated as needed. We will notify you of significant changes within the app and by updating the "Last updated" date on this page.
